About Adelphi

Community Engagement at Adelphi University

Contributing to our community is a vital part of Adelphi’s commitment to society.

Community engagement - it's in the University's DNA

Hello, Neighbor FlipbookCommunity engagement is a meaningful and ongoing collaboration between Adelphi and its local, regional, national and international communities. The University is deeply committed to both bettering and benefiting from our community. We enrich the student experience through service learning, hands-on learning in diverse community settings, community-based research, and other forms of community-connected scholarship and creative work. The University offers a multitude of service-based opportunities for students—in healthcare, education, multicultural learning, global issues and social justice—as well as internships and other opportunities throughout its academic programs.

Community Connections

Investments in more than a dozen well-regarded public policy and community services centers—ranging from the 30-year-old Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program to the newer Institute for Parenting and the Long Island Center for Nonprofit Leadership—have earned Adelphi a reputation as an “engaged university.” This engagement extends beyond the region in important ways. Faculty members are engaged in developing and evaluating new programs and service models and, along with students, participate in research to inform social policy, program and service delivery.
